IT'S COMPLICATED, 2024
Petra Rybánska, 2024, "It's complicated" is a phrase that describes a difficult to understand relationship consisting of many connected parts. Although this expression is currently used sarcastically to refer to interpersonal relationships, it could also be transferred to the relationship between humans and the world in question. The project captures the essence of the elusiveness of this connection between humans and objects. What makes us desire things, adapt our lives to them, possess them, accumulate them, manipulate them. Or is it the other way around? Transparent constructions layered on top of each other represent a moment of connection and touch with the object. How many things do we use during the day and how do they affect us at the end of the day?
A series of textile objects created for the festival and the theme of relationships. Constructions wrapped in tulle representing short connections between humans and everyday objects. Shells acting ephemeral and fragile as a moment of interaction. Imperfect imprints as memories of feelings, touches and emotions. Hard and soft constructions made of wires, filaments and cords, covered with tulle. Technology - sewing, gluing, shaping
