FA STU /

Herbert von Krochentál

The project was created as part of the Actual Trends in Design Subject of the Faculty of Architecture at STU in Bratislava. We answer to the surrounding kitsch through a piglet by the name Herbert von Krochentál. A sign of kitsch may be a perfectly handled craft, where the author’s certain immaturity level is visible in the content. A precisely done work proves seriousness of the author’s intention. To us, it is an occasion for parody. We work with irony and humour to exercise the critical way of thinking. A critic is anonymous and can hid himself behind the Herbert’s character. The installation collects photographs (graphics, collages etc.) mirroring events in the fields of design, architecture, and art of living space.
