Department of Sculpture, Object, Installation, VŠVU / Bio_Sculpture

Students of the Department of Sculpture, Object Installation at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava present their three possible answers to the theme BIO_SOCHA. Starting from the classical idea of a sculpture on a plinth, they push the boundaries of three-dimensional art to one of the possible variants of a living, growing, ecological, changing, vegetal, moving sculpture. The objects consist of two parts - the bottom, a large simple "flowerpot" and the top, the object itself, whose construction consists of a welded sculpture inspired in nature (in two cases) and a purely geometric form (in one case). The objects are planted in various configurations with plants and succulents that complement the shape of the sculpture suggested by the metal structure. The plants become a material, as if a new plaster or wood, with which to shape the sculpture. However, nature has the last word, the plants will expand and grow according to their own possibilities and will model their own shape, no longer independent of man.
