Polishing Goethe’s institute

Goethe’s institute and Bratislava Design Week present:

After 20 years of Goethe’s institute in Slovakia, it’s time for a few changes. And it will involve design.

Throughout 2014 ten Slovakian designers, chosen by Bratislava Design Week and Goethe’s institute, will alter the home of Goethe’s institute in the beautiful historical building on Panenska 33 to a form, which will communicate with the street and with its visitors through modern design. The goal for the chosen designers will be a new presentation concept of books and magazines in the library, livening up and simplifying the communication space for visitors, improve the communication of the institute towards the street and engage the façade of the building, and surely help the dusty plants inside.

The selection process is in progress. The chosen ones will have a few months for thinking and creating proposals. The results and the winning concept will be presented to the public on next year’s Bratislava Design Week 2014. The project was created to support young Slovakian designers.
