Martin Franzen
Mirroring
„Mirroring” is a presentation of three objects – a vase, a desk-lamp, and a candleholder. The piece of art refers to a Vanitas-type Dutch retreat. Visually, it takes on the canon of the mirroring surface – the kind with waves, that resembles a reflection on water. It points out at what is viewed and what is viewable. The mirroring canon is a metaphor of illusion and finiteness.
